Pull test: metal grommet vs. welded plastic eyelet vs. Metal Reinforced Eyelet
Three eyelets pulled side by side until each fails: a standard metal grommet, a Carmo HF-welded plastic eyelet, and the patented Metal Reinforced Eyelet. On this test's fabric the metal grommet tears out at about 30 kg, the welded plastic eyelet holds to about 90 kg and the Metal Reinforced Eyelet to about 105 kg, the strength comes from the weld bonding to the fabric, not a ring punched through it. The Metal Reinforced Eyelet adds a stainless-steel wear surface where a rope runs, so its full advantage shows in wear, not only in pull. Carmo workshop test with an uncalibrated newtonmeter: indicative, not a certified standard test; results vary with the fabric: ask Carmo for a test on your own material.
