Science Based Targets

Carmo has joined Science Based Targets and is therefore committed to reducing CO2 emissions in scope 1 and 2 by 50% in 2030. Carmo’s reduction target is in line with the goal of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

CO2 accounting tracks the development closely

Carmo’s CO2 reduction is based on emissions in 2018. Carmo will also measure and reduce emissions in scope 3.

At Carmo, we have always optimized our processes to ensure an efficient production. With Science Based Targets, we have specific climate targets that we can work with. Also, we can closely monitor the development of our efforts and adapt the efforts so that we reach our goals.

CO2 emissions 2018-2022

When joining Science Based Targets, we are committed to publish our CO2 accounts annually. Therefore, you will be able to follow the development year by year on this page.

As shown in the graph below, CO2 emissions for the period 2018-2022 (indicated with blue) are below the targets (indicated with yellow). A projection of the development so far until 2030 is indicated with the blue dashed line.

About the calculation of the CO2 accounts

The calculation is based on the Greenhouse Gas protocol. The CO2 footprint is calculated based on the Danish Business Authority’s CO2 calculation tool. The environmental declaration for electricity is used. The accounts are cradle-2-gate, i.e. downstream discharges are not included.

The CO2 accounting for the period 2018-2022 is verified and quality checked by Viegand Maagøe.
