Carmo Invests in New 3K Production Platform, Creating New Opportunities for Customers with Advanced Plastic Solutions
Carmo has invested in a new ENGEL Victory 220-ton 3K injection moulding machine as part of our ongoing commitment to advanced manufacturing and product development solutions. This investment strengthens our capabilities in multi-component injection moulding and provides customers with access to even more advanced plastic components featuring integrated functionality, high quality, and efficient production.
The new machine is equipped with three injection units, enabling the combination of up to three different materials or functions within a single component. This opens up new design possibilities and allows multiple functions to be integrated into one part instead of several separate components.
Multiple Functions in a Single Component
With the new 3K platform, Carmo expands its capabilities in developing and manufacturing both 2K and 3K solutions. The technology makes it possible to integrate several functions directly into the moulded component, such as seals, grip surfaces, and other functional features.
At the same time, it reduces the need for secondary assembly and handling processes, contributing to higher quality, shorter production lead times, and more cost-effective solutions.
The investment also supports the development of more advanced products for customers within the medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors, where requirements for functionality, process stability, and documented quality are particularly demanding.
Advanced Technology for the Products of Tomorrow
The new ENGEL Victory machine offers:
- 3-component moulding (3K) in a single production cycle
- Combination of rigid and soft materials within the same component
- Integrated seals and functional surfaces
- Overmoulding and advanced multi-component solutions
- High process stability and consistent product quality through advanced process monitoring
At the same time, the technology provides a flexible manufacturing platform capable of supporting future connector and overmoulding solutions.
Designed for Future Product Development
The new 3K platform has been established with both current and future customer needs in mind. The machine is designed to support new product introductions while also enabling the further development of existing connector and overmoulding solutions on a modern and scalable manufacturing platform.
The investment increases our flexibility and production capacity, ensuring that we can continue to support customers throughout the entire product development journey, from concept and design optimization to validated high-volume manufacturing.
With the investment in a new 3K production platform, Carmo strengthens its ability to develop and manufacture advanced multi-component solutions. The technology makes it possible to combine multiple materials and functions within a single component, reducing product complexity and creating added value for our customers. At the same time, the investment establishes a foundation for future growth within connector and overmoulding solutions,
says Anders Johnsen, VP R&D and Technology at Carmo.
The investment represents another step in Carmo’s strategy to be a strong development and manufacturing partner, helping customers transform complex product ideas into robust, scalable, and competitive solutions.
